AIA Wisconsin honors City Hall and One at North End
EA received two awards at this years AIA Wisconsin Award Ceremony held at Monona Terrace in Madison, WI.
Milwaukee City Hall Exterior Restoration received the Special Recognition Award. Said a jurur: \"Requiring special technical finesse, the architects and contractors beautifully and carefully restored this stellar buildign. It is encouraging that the city commiteed the financial resources required. It is a beautiful landmark, with a great presence in the city and well deserving of the love and care given to it by the community.We all agree that this project deserves special recognition for restoration and preservation.\"
One at North End received a Merit Award, recognizing particular aspects in project design. Jury comment: "This is a good solid project that understands its role as an urban building. It has a very dramatic façade that really comes to life at night. There are a lot of good lessons in the building. The architect took the loft aesthetic and enriched it using local materials. The design was executed effectively in simple massing forms. There’s a lot going on here; and it creates some great living spaces for urban dwellers."
