As one of the largest and most active Hillel programs in the country, UW Hillel requires a facility to meet a broad specturm of needs, from religious to social to educational. The new Barbara Hochberg Center for Jewish Student Life will be the focus of Jewish life on campus, providing 30,000 sf for Jewish student groups to gather and attend movies, lectures, cultural presentations, religious celebrations and festive dinners. Comfortable lounges will provide space for informal gatherings and a formal dining room will enhance the kosher meal program. Other features include a cafe, fitness room, library, auditorium and rooftop basketball court. This builidng, for the first time, will provide adequate space for all of Hillel's activiites and will also stimulate the creation of many new programs and services.

The building is registered for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for New Construction (LEED®-NC) Silver certification for its environmentally sensitive and sustainable design.
